Hi Mona - thanks for the link left over at Hoppo Bumpo's blog on how to crochet a granny square. I now realise where I was going wrong - I wasnt putting the yarn over before I started the double crochet. Will try again tonight armed with this new knowledge.
Now there's a reason to never go to the movies on your own!!
